Ovation Magnum II - Bass Solid Mahogany Carbon Fiber Neck Rickenbacker Tool Joy Division

Rare: Ovation Magnum II Bass

This was my dream bass for many years. Sadly, I just don’t play it anymore.

The Ovation - Magnum II was an incredibly high end bass when it came out in the late 70s with tons of innovations that were made it the first of its kind. The body is of solid Honduran Mahogany. It was one of the first basses to have active pickups. The neck is mahogany reinforced with carbon fiber (it was probably the first production bass to use carbon fiber)

The tonal range you can get with the three slider eq and wide separation between the neck and bridge pickup is incredible.

You can get sounds from a Rickenbacker growl, or play high end lead post punk bass like Peter Hook from New Order / Joy Division, deep dub bass lines (Jah Wobble of Public Image Limited used an Ovation Magnum for years) and for anyone for anyone making more experimental music with bass Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth used this bass as well. It was also used by Tony Levin of King Crimson and Paul D'Amour of TOOL so it’s got prog rock credentials, and is arena rock approved from the bassist for ELO and Journey. There’s even a string mute lever that with felt can get those classic soul and R&B thump & groove.

Some minor dings and scratches (see pictures feel free to request more) The sliders for the eq have a bit of static when being used to change eq setting but only while being adjusted. Includes original ovation hardshell case (the case is nearly 50 years old and has plenty of wear.) Also includes the owners manual, an original ovation brochure and the original warranty card. (the case and original paperwork sell for a couple hundred dollars alone)
